Y’all even realize how many Black people are getting abused everyday and don’t even know that it’s some type of abuse because it happens so often and it’s so widespread. And when someone in the Black community points out it’s abuse they get hushed the fuck up about.
get outta here, people can be abused and be strong people. Being abused doesn’t happen because a person is weak and deserves it.
That’s some abuser mentality.
You know what else is bs? The expectation that us POC’s are supposed to be strong all the time. The whole “I’m a strong black woman that don’t need no man” thing? It’s dumb. And anyone pointing a finger at any Black person and calling them weak is dumb. We go through so much. What some people might see as weak is just exhaustion. But no matter how tired we get, no matter how much strain we feel in our bones, we always move forward. “Weak” is not in our vocabulary, not even a little bit. If it was, with the odds we’re up against, we wouldn’t be alive today. That’s why the abuser tries to define what is and isn’t weak. The only way for them to deny our strength is to change the definition of the word itself.
